What has happened in Paris makes me heartsick. To everyone there, and to all those who have loved ones in France, my heart goes out to you. Below I have posted numbers for embassies of various countries if you have concerns for someone's safety. If you're looking on Facebook for the status of friends who might be in Paris, head to the Safety Check page on your Facebook account. The page will list your friends who last checked in around Paris and give you a running tally of who is marked safe.

To my French flisties, words cannot express the grief I feel for what you are suffering. Much love.

I woke up this morning to a mini flood in my kitchen caused by a leak. I was thinking how it was a shitty way to start the day, and then I went online and everything just paled into insignificance. My heart just breaks for everyone who was there, who lost someone, for those who were injured and those who died, and for the world at large, knowing that it can happen anywhere. It's all so devastating.

It is meant to be devastating - and we will all be rocked to our core for a while, but whatever these people do, they cannot overcome our unconquerable souls. Humanity will prevail.

It's just O_O I cannot believe there are still people, and it's a term I use loosely, who think THIS is the way to get their point across!!

I'm not sure if it's because I'm an atheist or just a humanist, but I cannot fathom how anyone could think their god would approve of murder. Isn't human life supposed to be sacred? It's all so totally insane that people kill in the name of religion. It seems to me that wars are fought for two reasons only; land and/or resources to conquer, and religion. These terrorists are literally declaring war on the entire world.

In many ways I despair for the future, but in other ways I'm so hopeful. To see such an outpouring of love and support when these atrocities are committed; they keep trying to break us, but it just makes us stand together even more.

Their god isn't the one who agrees and sanctions murder in the name of a cause though, that's the whole point. They have bastardised something that offers comfort and calm and welcoming arms where needed! I am SO not organised religion type, but I understand that these religions give people something larger than themselves to believe in which helps immensely in times of great emotional need!

These people aren't OF those religions, they are using the teachings as an excuse to create havoc and hurt and hatred!

As long as there are a few of us who are capable of spreading love not hatred, there's hope...I don't know if you'd be interested but I just posted this along the same lines!
