Well the powers that be at Outlook have once again decided that they don't recognise my password. When I tried to reset, yet again I get asked a security question I never set so can't possibly answer, and a back up email I have told them multiple times I no longer have access to. GRRRRR! I have to fill in a security form and it wants to know the subject line and email address of recently sent emails. Of course, all of the email addresses are listed in my goddamn email address book, and I seriously can't remember what I wrote in the subject lines!

If you've written me an email, I'm not ignoring you, I just can't access it. If I've written you an email within the last month, or I replied to one of yours, can you please, please, please PM me the subject line and your email address so I can fill in the stupid form. I'm thinking it's time to change email accounts because I am so over these Microsoft douchebags constantly shutting me out of my own email.

Rant over.

Update: thank you [livejournal.com profile] alexisjane for the email info that you had to dig through to find, apparently with what I had and with the what you sent me it was enough to get access again. You're a life saver!

Who's your ISP? Something similar happened to me with Outlook (Bigpond) and I rang Telstra and yelled at them until they fixed it...

Anyway...good luck! Hope you get it sorted out soon.

God how bloody frustrating! My Mum's had similar problems with BT Yahoo in the past and ended up abandonning the old email and opening a new one. Not a great solution.
Good luck with sorting it out!

My ISP is Vivid but it's Outlook that is the problem, it's happened more than once and before I even signed up with my current provider. I'm looking into opening another email account with someone else, but it's a pain in the butt because so many things are linked to my current email address. I hate Gmail Yahhoo, so I think I'm going to go with a lesser known and possibly fee based account.

It is frustrating. I don't know how or why it throws up security questions I've never set, and why my passwords suddenly become unrecognisable. I used my password yesterday yet today it says it's invalid, I tried multiple times in case I had mistyped, but nope. What a pain!

Urghh, I get that all the time on my AOL account. Luckily, I wrote down my security question, but I don't quite understand how it suddenly doesn't recognise my password anymore. *sigh*. Sounds like you should definitely try one of the other servers (that's probably not the right word) since this one keeps screwing you over.

How very annoying... >:-(

I don't understand why I keep getting security questions I never even set! It asked me my grandfather's occupation, which I wouldn't have set because I didn't know either of my grandfathers because they were long gone before I came along. What's the use of a security question if they're just going to ask whatever they want, not what you set for them???

I just wish there was a decent free email service, but they all suck out loud. I think I'm going to have to pay if I want something secure that actually works.

Lol, I'm kind of intrigued as to what the answer would've been coz clearly your server HAD an answer. It's lke SKYNET - these comps obviously know answers to security questions that WE don't even know! Lol! Absolutely ridiculous...

Yeah...that's probably the only way to make sure it's 100% secure. I've had problems with both aol and hotmail so I don't really have any advice, I'm sorry...

LOL! It's research time to find a good email provider. I'm broke so it stings a little that I'll have to pay, but it'll be worth it not to have the constant hassle. Although I have to say, I don't completely trust anything that's done online, no matter how secure it supposedly is. A few years ago I got a Trojan on my computer that got past my anti-virus software without so much as a ping, and my bank account got emptied by the hacker...the week before xmas.

It was a keystroke logger so they got into my email, my Paypal, my ebay account - it was a nightmare. I had no idea until I got a call from my bank and from Paypal, they shut down everything due to 'suspicious activity'. I wish they had shut it down BEFORE all my money was stolen, but at least I got every cent back, it took six weeks then the bank refunded it all. Paypal was excellent, I have a lot of faith in them after how much they helped me; they moved faster than my bank did.
