Merry Fudging Christmas!
It's late Christmas Eve in Australia and I thought I'd say a quick hello and wish you all a very merry fudging Christmas just in case tomorrow I get caught up with cooking and then eat myself into a food coma. I haven't been around much this year but I think about you guys all the time, and miss you all so very much, and hope I can be online a lot more often in the new year. I hope you all have lots of lovely plans for a special holiday with your family and/or friends because we know family don't end with blood. It's just Mum and I again this year, but hey, I'm saving a fortune on pressies!
One of my favourite things about Christmas is giving gifts, and as I'm away from most of my buddies we aren't exchanging any gifts this year. But I found this wonderful charity called Share The Dignity who are having a campaign for homeless women called 'It's in the Bag'. The campaign asks that you donate one of your handbags that's in good condition and fill it with items that might be appreciated by someone living rough. Mum and I used the biggest bags we had and then had a great time shopping so we could stuff them with shampoo and conditioner, deodorant, soaps, tampons, toothpaste, toothbrushes, wet wipes, skin lotion, hand cream, and a few makeup items. It felt great, but what felt even better was when we dropped them off at only one of many dropoff points, the place was absolutely brimming with overflowing bags! It was fantastic to see so many people getting involved. This year I donated to the girls; a few years ago I donated a sleeping bag to a young guy who was living rough near the train station. Next year I'll focus again on children. We also went and bought toys for a little boy we know who is in foster care and who has had the suckiest life for all of his eight years on earth. Unfortunately, his carers aren't that great either and treat him very differently from their own children. Nobody in authority will do anything about it because he is with extended family, and as far as they're concerned he is being fed and clothed and that's all that's needed. Poor kid utterly breaks my heart, I'd take him in a heartbeat if I was legally able to. At least we've made sure that he'll be getting something fun to play with this year. I was feeling pretty bah humbug a few weeks ago, but now I'm really feeling the Christmas spirit!
I really wanted to send out Christmas cards this year and even had some printed, but they arrived so late it was pointless trying to send any overseas. At least they're ready for next year, lol!
I wrote a little SPN Christmas carol to print in the cards but as the cards are here instead of being delivered into everybody's mailboxes, I'll post it here. I know similar ones have been done before, but what the hell. Sung to Deck the Halls:

Glad to hear from you, and yes, I hope to see a bit more of you next year - you are missed! Your Christmas gifting sounds awesome, how lovely to be making so many people's Christmases that little bit brighter. You and your Mum rock.

The handbag charity is awesome. It's only it's second year running and, at least in my local area, it's been a runaway success, so I'm assuming it did well Australia wide. Canberra is probably one of the worst cities as far as charity goes, so if it did well here, it must've been really big in the big cities. It's awesome!
Happy holidays to you too, hon. Love you to bits!

Yes, you've been missed 'round these parts. I hope we'll see more of you in the year ahead. After all, you've got WsIP to P, um, as it were! And, you're just generally missed, as well.

The little boy has been passed from pillar to post. His then teenage mother is really something from what I can tell. She had no idea she was pregnant until the day she had the baby, she supposedly thought she was just getting fat. Her own idiot mother apparently stopped her from adopting him out where he could have had a decent family so she could 'take care of him'. That lasted until he was around two I think. The mother had long since abandoned any pretense of caring about him and spent all of her time partying and disappearing with boys for days on end. The grandmother 'couldn't cope', which translated into her own boyfriend was annoyed that she now had a baby to look after and wouldn't let her move in with him. He then went to a family friend who apparently treated the poor boy terribly so he was removed and given to his teenage father. That ended when the dad, who was a kid himself, tried to commit suicide while his little boy was present. I think he then got shoved with his dad's aunt for a while, and now I think the woman he is with is his dad's eldest sister who very plainly doesn't want him. Her and her family recently went on holidays and told him he wasn't allowed to go with them as he "costs too much" and dumped him for weeks with his mother's sister who had pretty much just given birth herself and didn't have the time or patience to make the poor kid feel welcome. He lives in a household that makes it clear that he's been taken in grudgingly.
I wish the authorities would allow him to be taken in by non-family, I would make it work somehow, illness or not, or there would have to be decent foster families out there. He deserves to be adopted but his dad won't agree to it. It's not even going to be easy to get a chance to see him to give him his gifts, but he's going to be at his disabled granddad's next week, and he said we could go there to visit him. I hope to god he gets at least one present on Christmas day seeing as we can't give him the toys we got him until then. It's so unfair that children have to suffer like this because of bad choices made by adults. He should be in a family where he can be loved like he deserves. We intend to utterly shower him with attention and love for the short time we can visit. He desperately needs to know there are people who care about him. My heart just breaks!!
I'm crossing everything that I can get back to writing ASAP. I miss you so!!! Huge hugs to you. I hope you and hubby have a beautiful Christmas.

'Share The Dignity' sounds like a great idea, and it was heartwarming to know you and your mum chose big bags to fill up, and that loads of other people had also donated. My heart goes out to that little boy, it must be so hard to see him being neglected and the authorities unable/unwilling to step in.
Your carol is brilliant, I love the Impalalala and see the blazing graves before us!
I had the same problem with Christmas cards I ordered, they still haven't arrived!
Happy New Year xx
